Cole Art Center is centrally located across from the Muskingum County Courthouse in downtown Zanesville, Ohio, and a mere four blocks from Interstate 70. The historic 26,000-square-foot building will house one of the region's largest and most important collections of aviation & transportation memorabilia and art, displayed for the purposes of education and tourism.
Our mission statement has two parts, neither of which will ever be at the expense of the other: Help recognize, preserve, and display Ohio's preeminent role in aerospace development in the United States, and to utilize our displays, our building, our events and our location, to help educate and inspire our young people in the areas of aerospace, technology, history, design, and art.
One part of our mission is national - the other regional and local.
All of these elements are currently on exhibition within our current location at 616 Main Street, Zanesville, Ohio - in miniature form. Our current gallery is a working model for what Cole Art Center promises to become.
Built in 1927, our four-story building was home to Montgomery Ward until 1974. The view from atop our home is unique and spectacular. As a future event center, this perch above our picturesque downtown, directly across from our beautifully preserved courthouse, will help bring new life to our community and our region.

Zanesville, Ohio is ideally located between the five largest urban centers within this region of the United States, all with drive times within 2.5 hours.
Zanesville is this region's only historic downtown that is directly off of a major transnational interstate highway - I-70 - with easy on/off vehicular access.
Cole Art Center, in the middle of downtown Zanesville, is centrally located directly across from the Muskingum County Courthouse on Main Street, within the area's Historic District, DORA Districts, and Arts District.
The Owls Head Transportation Museum was established as a non-profit collection of historic transportation-themed displays in 1974. The collection has grown to include over 150 historic aircraft, automobiles, and related artifacts. Their vast facility is constantly booked for related events, conventions, auctions, reunions, and lectures, all of which bring thousands of visitors into the small community of Owls Head. Focusing upon education and inspiring young people, the organization plays a vital role in exposing young minds to technology, history, mechanics, and other subject matter.
Cole Art Center takes much inspiration from the non-profit model of Owls Head and builds upon it by focusing upon design and art as well as the aforementioned subjects. Zanesville's central location in the United States, located directly off of one of the busiest sections of one of the busiest interstate highways in the country (I-70) promises to bring even more visitors into our community who are likely to frequent other local businesses, restaurants, and hotels.
Our current gallery on Main Street in downtown Zanesville is already an epicenter of our exploding art community and is a national destination for enthusiasts of history & aviation.
